This Oscar nominated WWII drama was one of the titles from the first deal we did with EMI and due to 125 minute running time it was edited down to 5×400′ and was also available as a 1×400′ highlights edition. An Ealing Studios production that we issued under our “EMI Golden Classics’ umbrella label. The quality was excellent even though it had been taken from a 16mm print and was received very well by the reviewers, however it was a slow seller, a fact we put down to the cost of it being a 5×400. Another early example of a label designed by Marianne Frost. Printed inhouse by myself.
