I wasn’t familiar with the name of Edgar Kennedy and his ‘slow burning anger’ comedy when Derek decided to issue a number of the many comedy shorts he’d made for RKO. What I do recall is that Derek was able to use 16mm lavender prints as the master material and that the quality was first rate. Our 1967 sales catalogue list seven titles. ‘I’ll Fix It’, ‘Cooks and Crooks’, ‘Brick-a Brac’, ‘Dummy Ache’, ‘Mad About Moonshine’, ‘An Apple in His Eye’ and ‘Wrong Direction’, but I can’t say for sure if they all made it onto the shelves to sell. As you can see by the 5 examples I do have, only the title and a simple image were different on each label. An idea used to save on time and money and suggested by our artist and label designer, Marianne Frost. Printed by myself inhouse.
