At just 27 minutes this would have made a wonderful 600′ release, but of course in 1976 600′ releases had yet to hit the market and we released as a 2×400′ (1 full 400′ and second containing just 200′). This enjoyable animated Soviet creation was produced and released in Russia in 1973 by Soyuzmultfilm, under its original title ‘Shchelkunchik’. This was one of the films that we acquired from Norman Salter, a contact of many years standing, who presided over a one-man business in Wardour Street, called Viscom, and was just one of the many titles we purchased from him. We later released a short sequence called ‘The Waltz of the Flowers’, which was still selling when we closed. Derek had snapped up the 8mm & 16mm rights to this title. The prints of both the full length and short were of exceptional quality.
