An eight page campaign book from one of its many UK re-releases leads us into one of Derann’s most successful selling Disney animated features. This 1967 Oscar nominated musical adventure receives a meagre 7.6 rating on the IMDb and was Walt Disney’s nineteenth full length animated feature. Inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s Mogli stories and having some highly catchy musical tunes from the Sherman brothers. It was directed by veteran Wolfgang Reitherman and boasted a plethera of well known voices that included Phil Harris, Sebastian Cabot, George Sanders and Sterling Holloway. Disney Home Movies would release two extracts, beginning with ‘I Wan’na Be Like You’ and later ‘Mogli The Jungle Boy’. It was Derann’s eighth Disney feature release. This was our first Disney featuring a lower budget and the new Xerox animation process, and was the last to be personally supervised by Walt Disney, although he never saw it’s theatrical release. Issued as a 3 x 600′ feature it came complete with a magnetic stereo soundtrack. Label courtesy of Kevin Faulkner. Disney box labels courtesy of Super8DataBase.
