A look at some of the numerous meetings that we undertook in order to issue 8mm films to our customers.
Contracts & Rights Chapter 36
Lone Wolf was only a small one man company and was run and operated by Trevor Willsmer, who surprised everyone with the release of a number of productions from producer Samuel Bronston. ‘El Cid’ (1961), ‘Fall of the Roman Empire’ (1964) and ‘Circus World’ (1964), [AKA ‘The Magnificent Showman’] as well as the 1989 thriller ‘Physical Evidence’ along with a few shorts and trailers, like the making of ‘Cromwell’ and ‘Is Paris Burning?’. I have also seen an advert placed in Silver Screen Magazine #39 where mentions up and coming releases such as ’55 Days at Peking’, ‘Henry V’, ‘Blithe Spirit’, ‘Dead Ringers’ and ’49th Parallel’, although I don’t believe they saw the light of day. All three of the Bronston 60s features were released uncut and in scope, and they sold moderately well following their first class reviews. After the collapse of the company we were offered the negatives and sound-masters and although the negatives now showed signs of wear and tear, they were advertised and re-printed to order. Sales were nothing to shout about, but they made a fine addition to the sales catalogue. I think there’s every possability that this was added to the ‘Rank Open Contract’ as the titles in question originated with them.
