Davelyn Films began life in 1969 and run part time by Dave and Carolyn West. In 1976 D.C.R was formed and around 1977 he signed a contract with Renown Films for 12 features. Contracts soon followed from Bryanston, Romulus, Robert Kingston and Rank. His enviable catalogue included an A to Z of British film classics such as ‘Green for Danger’, ‘The 39 Steps’, (1959), ‘The Square Peg’, ‘Tread Softly Stranger’, ‘The Pickwick Papers’, ‘Windbag the Sailor’, ‘The Glass Mountain’, ‘Band Waggon’, ‘Scrooge’ and ‘Dance Little Lady’, along with John Ford’s ‘Stagecoach’ and a number of railway subjects from the British Rail catalogue. Ill health tormented Dave for many years and when he retired Derann took over many of railway shorts and cartoons. He passed away in 2005.
