What a Carry On! – Carry On Nurse: 1959

by

In September 1958 a new British institution was born with the release of the first of a series of comedy films. ‘Carry On Nurse’ was the second in the series, but despite it being the UKs most successful film of that year it didn’t receive a page to itself in the ABC Film Review, just one captioned photo. It marked the debut of Joan Sims, who became the longest female member of the Carry On team, appearing in 24 of the series. No Super 8 release.

I’m in the USA and I saw “Carry On, Nurse” on a late night TV program back in the 1960’s . I thought this was one of the best British comedies that could be released . Later on, more “Carry On” releases were broadcast at this same time frame . Moving up to 1970 as a cinema projectionist, I did run the film, “Carry On Camping” and still enjoyed this one. Thank you

    1. Carry on Camping was a marvellous seller for us on Super 8.
