The Little Mermaid

Released in 1989 this was Walt Disney’s twenty eighth full length feature and Derann’s first Disney feature release. It’s release was announced in our December 1991 newsletter, where it received a full page to itself, along with ‘Mickey’s Christmas Carol’ and again on the back page for it’s special preview at the 1991 Christmas Open Day. It would prove to have a number of problems, the least of which was our dissatisfaction with the negative supplied by Technicolor, New York. It was the beginning of a brand new world for both Derann and the Super 8 collector. It was the winner of two Academy Awards and nominated for a third. Running at just 83 minutes it just fitted onto 3 x 600′ spools, and came complete with a magnetic stereo soundtrack. Label designed by Dave Worrall.
