Bambi

A nice 4 page campaign book opens a look at this popular title. Released in 1942, this was Walt Disney’s fifth full length feature and was Derann’s tenth Disney feature release. One from the titles from the Golden age of  Walt Disney, an era of undisputed classics that remain an essential part of the legacy of animation. I don’t believe that anyone at Derann really thought we would ever release the likes of this classic and we were all in awe when Disney suggested this as the next feature release. Running at just 70 minutes it was one of the shortest running and was released on 3 x 600′ spools.  Disney Home Movies hadn’t been slow in releasing two extracts prior to our feature release, ‘Bambi and Friends’ and ‘Bambi Falls in Love’, both 200′ and released in Colour or Black & White/Sound or Silent.

I sounded this film many, many times and was surprised to witness a Disney animation goof! Take a look at the end of reel two, the scene where the little animals of the forest are sheltering from the fire on an island in the river…. one of the small animals just disappears!!
