Following my chance encounter with Peter Brooke, at the 2019 Blackpool convention and the opportunity to scan some of my missing portfolio of box labels, this the first of a series of posts that will take a look at many of the labels we produced up to around 1978/9 and a section from later releases.
During my first few months at Derann one of the first labels I came across as I searched the stationary and catalogue room was this label for Pathe News. When I asked Derek about it he admitted that it was one of a batch of labels he had ‘acquired’ while on a visit to Pathe and that he had used them on a number of early newsreels.
The 16mm would have been covered with a sticker and the year typed into the white area. So no design or printing for this one and it had a gummed back. I must admit that I never saw a second hand Pathe news that had this on its box, but Derek assured me that they did use them.
