Another of the titles we acquired from Tigon, this severely under-rated horror yarn fairly drips with a thick, creepy atmosphere that is hard to shake. The incredibly sexy Linda Hayden stars as the leader of a group of children who discover, then worship, the remnants of what appears to be a demon in a farmer’s field and soon begin to perform sacrifices of other children to it. Patrick Wymark plays a Matthew Hopkins-type who puts a stop to the group’s murderous shenanigans. Set during a remarkably superstitious period, the characters are in constant fear of an evil presence that lurks everywhere and the film is so well made that the viewer comes to share their constant dread. The end result is a stylish horror movie that can be very uncomfortable for some to watch. The only problem with our prints was that at times it was just so dark it made watching the film very frustrating! Our master material had its original theatrical title ‘Satan’s Skin’ on it, but Tigon had the general release title available for us to use. We made use of the ‘Skin’ title on a 200′ extract we would release later…. or was it the other way around. Designed by Marianne Frost, I believe this to be the best of our Tigon labels.
