This was one of a number of titles Derek had picked up from Stan Hart, who operated a small but lucrative 35mm distribution company called Supreme. Like much of his product this was purchased by Stan for re-release around the many second run cinemas. It had been part of the Derann 16mm hire library for some time and Derek had never really considered it for an 8mm release. However it eventually received the sharp snip of his editors scissors and a 400′ was born. Starring Steve Reeves and Sylva Koscina the film had been an enormous success on its original release in 1958 and had started a veritable deluge of what became known as ‘Sword & Sandal’ fliks.
