Derann began its life in the early 1960s as small film rental business and became one of the largest 8mm distributors in the world. Primarily remembered for their Walt Disney full length animated feature releases, they also had contracts with MGM, Fox, United Artists, Warner Bros, EMI, Tigon, Rank, ITC and many others. They attended all the film conventions and organized the hugely successful Northern Film Collectors Convention in Blackpool for 27 years. They dabbled in Vinyl and CD soundtracks, film posters and their retail shop offered a good selection of projectors and cameras, while somehow still managing to print Film For The Collector magazine, which ran for 75 issues. Oh, did I mention the VHS and Beta video releases…..
Here then is a record of this wonderful firm, for which I ‘worked’ for 36 years. Thanks to David Watson, Rob Young, Kevin Wardell and the many other collectors who donated material for publication in the original Derann Vaults group on Facebook. My sincere and unending thanks to Eivind Mork who designed and loaded 99% of this site! Explore and enjoy!!
