The Fiend

I believe this was another of the many titles we picked up from Michael Meyers at Miracle Films. It’s been a long time since I viewed this movie and if I’m honest it was a pretty dull affair, but the IMDb says it’s one of the more notable British horror films from the early 1970s, and go on to say it’s a stylish and ‘generally accomplished mix of religion, psycho-drama, music and exploitation’. It goes on to say that it was heavily cut by BBFC before its release so I assume that our master came from that version. The artwork is a fine example of the work from Marianne Frost and a title that proved to be a very popular item.

Ged, I never realised that Derann released video under the name, “Gold Star”.

It would be interesting to know why you used that name and not Derann.

Did you do many titles with that name?

    1. Hi Rob, The answer is simple. Derek thought that having the Derann logo and name on the covers was losing us sales and believed that this would help disguise that fact. We also introduced the Ambassador label. It really did nothing to improve sales. Can’t recall the titles or how many there were. Check out the video catalogues in the catalogue section. GED
