Monsters from an Unknown Planet

I  must be a small child at heart’, for movies such as this get my heart beating just a little faster! “Mekagojira no Gyakushu” was for me one of Toho’s best later Godzilla entries. Released in 1975 and known as ‘Terror Of Godzilla’ in the USA it was given a UK theatrical release by one of regular suppliers of 16mm and video titles, Miracle Films. I presuaded Derek and Anne to accompany myself to the Plaza cinema in Dudley to see it on the big screen and was humming the main theme for days. I was over the moon when the MD of Miracle of Miracle was able to confirm that they indeed had the rights for both 16mm and video cassette. It was a popular title and I think we were all suprised at just how well it sold. The colourful label was again designed by Marianne Frost.

  2. Do you recall, Ged, if any other Godzilla titles were considered by Derann for video release? ABC cinema showed both Son of Godzilla and Ebirah Terror of the Deep. Destroy all Monsters and Godzilla vs the Smog Monster were also rput out on release here. Godzilla vs the Cosmic Monster was released on another video label.

    1. Hi Jim. Our two Godzilla releases were acquired from Miracle Films. We did nearly release an 8mm feature cutdown of Godzilla Vs the thing from EMI but it was withdrawn even before its release when EMI discovered that their contract did not include any rights except 35mm theatrical.
